The bill was passed this afternoon by the Senate 44-3. The bill had been further amended such that the only thing in the bill is “legislative management shall consider studying the regulations of drivers and of motor vehicles in the North Dakota Century Code for consistency, clarity, and substance.” It willnow go back to the House where they will either concur with the Senate or reject and ask for a conference committee. If the House accepts the Senate action, the bill goes to the Governor for his signature or veto. If the House asks for a conference committee that committee would have some latitude and would send it back to both chambers for consideration.
The Senate Transportation Committee hearing for HB 1442 is scheduled for Thursday, March 24th at 10am. Make sure the Senate transportation committee members know that this bill must be killed - Do Not Pass.
